Well here is the challenge..... Basically, the aim is to buy a car for £100 or less, then try and spend no more than £15 on modifying the car to enable it to drive across one of the toughest routes around. The Plymouth/Dakar rally was started 3 years ago, with the aim to complete the route of the famous Paris/Dakar rally (well approximate route) whilst spending as little amount of money possible. None of this spending thousands upon thousands of pounds to get a fully works prepared rally car across the Sahara, why not attempt it in an old banger? Well here we are in the third year of the event, and it seems that many people are of the same opinion, and around 200 teams split into 4 groups are going to attempt the challenge. The aim for our team is to leave the UK, via Portsmouth on the 18th of February, crossing France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Senegal to finally reach Banjul in the Gambia 4000 miles later. |
